Pet Wellness Care Exams
Ten West Bird and Animal Hospital offers pet wellness exams for dogs and cats in all stages of development. Regular preventive care provides many benefits to your pet and promotes a long and healthy life.
Puppy and Kitten Wellness Care
We recommend new puppies and kittens begin their wellness care programs as soon as possible following their adoption (or at approximately 6 weeks of age). Your pet’s wellness care exam will include the following:
- A complete physical exam
- Intestinal parasite screening
- Proactive deworming
- Core vaccinations
- Parasite preventive—heartworm, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites
You can also discuss any questions you may have about caring for your new puppy or kitten such as:
- Nutrition
- Grooming
- Training and behavior—including housetraining
- Spaying or neutering
- Microchipping
- Home dental care
Adult Dog and Cat Wellness Care
Adult pet wellness care builds on the foundation of your pet’s puppy or kitten care program. By the time your pet is two years old, he or she is considered an adult.
We recommend preventive care visits twice yearly for adult pets. This allows us to catch and correct small health issues before they develop into major problems. Adult pet wellness visits include:
- A complete physical exam
- Annual blood work
- Dental evaluation
- Vaccinations—core vaccine boosters, vaccine titers, and risk assessed recommendations
- Heartworm test
- Intestinal parasite check
- Parasite preventive
Senior Pet Wellness Care
As your pet advances in years, routine preventive care is critical to maintaining a high quality of life. Generally, pets are considered senior when they reach 7 years of age. We recommend two preventive care exams per year for senior pets. Wellness exams include:
- A complete physical exam
- Annual full blood chemistry panel
- Blood pressure check
- Urinalysis
- Weight assessment
- Vaccinations—vaccine titers and risk assessed recommendations
- Dental evaluation
Maintaining your pet’s health lies at the core of our preventive care program. Please contact us to schedule an exam. We encourage your questions and welcome new clients.
